Join Open City Friends on Thursday 28th May for this guided tour of Stanley Picker House.

Number One, Picker is the private home of Stanley Picker, a cosmetics magnate who made his fortune in the sixties and commissioned architect Kenneth Wood to design and build a beautiful modern home in Surrey, with the interiors and furnishings contract fulfilled by the Conran Group.

Originally commissioned in 1965 and completed in 1968, the house has been held in trust since Stanley’s death in 1982, with all the original furniture and interior decor still in place - the house is a wonderful time capsule to the very best in design and architecture that the mid sixties had to offer.

You can find out more about the Stanley Picker gallery and trust here.

This tour is for Open City Friends ballot winners only. You will have received an email if your entry was drawn. There are two timeslots for this tour, which can be found on your email. Further details about directions to the house will be provided before the tour via email.

Location: Kingston upon Thames

Please note the following accessibility advice:

The house has not be retrofitted with access ramps or lifts, and as such The Stanley Picker Trust regrets that the tours are unsuitable for visitors who have mobility issues, or use mobility aids of any kind. The house is split level to accommodate the slope of the land the house is build into and access is gained only via steps and stairs throughout the property. Similarly, there are no accessible bathrooms on site, however there is one original guest WC for visitors use while on tours.

Each tour last approximately two hours and encompasses the house, garden and pavilion gallery. Guests are required to stand throughout, and are asked not to wander away from their group or sit on any furniture unless directed by your guide.
